You may have seen this beautiful plant artfully flanking lush gardens. Its flowers are usually in varying hues of purple, pink and white, and butterflies are frequently seen hovering around it. What is this mystery plant?

Buddleja Davidii – also appropriately dubbed "Butterfly Bush” because of its attractiveness to butterflies. Beyond its beauty, it has proven itself as an effective skin care ingredient for its highly protective and repair properties, as well as its powerful antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activity.   

There are nearly 100 species of Buddleja, all of which are native to warmer climates. The flowers are rich in nectar and have a strong scent. The species that has our attention, which is used in our Organic A Complex, is Buddleja Davidii. A member of the Scrophulariaceae family, it is native to Eastern Asia, and its true treasures can be found in the plant’s cell cultures, which are extracted from the meristematic (stem) cells.

Traditionally used for medicinal purposes for their wound healing properties, the cells in Butterfly Bush are rich in active substances that respond to various types of environmental stress, provide antioxidant and anti-inflammatory support, and protect against UVA-photodamage. For these qualities it has shown to have a significant impact on the age-prevention process.
