How to Address the Different Skin Needs of Men

Does a man’s skin differ enough from a women’s to require their own skin care treatments? Yes and no. Many of the time-proven, effective ingredients will deliver the same benefits to both sexes, but it is the levels within the formulas that make the difference.

Men typically have thicker more sensitive skin, produce more sebum and have larger pores than women. Their pH is also more acidic, and studies have shown male skin cells carry fewer antioxidants, which forms a greater number of deeper facial lines and hyper pigmentation issues. Additionally, men continually battle a slew of skin issues specifically related to shaving – ingrown hairs, dryness and razor burn.

Globetrotting - Summer Skin Series

Summer is just around the corner and, with the exception of coastal areas, many cities tend to slow as peak travel time sets in. There are however, a handful of people who won’t have the luxury of escaping this summer, so why not offer them a trip around the world without leaving the spa?

Launch an “Around the World in 90 Days” series in which you introduce your clients to a different region each month through themed treatments. The trip will begin in June with a visit to the tropics with the Maui Enzyme Peel. In July, it’s off to Italy with the Italian Herbal Peel. You clients will end their summer escapade in Burgundy, France in August with the Wine Peptide Lift and Firm Facial.

Enjoy The Summer – Cool~ Protected ~ Safe!

Shielding the skin from damaging UV rays is important year round, and particularly so during the summer months when more time is spent outdoors. May is Skin Cancer Awareness Month, and a good time for a refresher on protecting the skin.

Skin cancer is the most common form of cancer in the U.S. It’s estimated that one in five Americans will develop skin cancer in the course of a lifetime. If developing cancer isn’t fuel enough to protect the skin, remember that 90 percent of photoaging (wrinkles, brown spots, slack skin, etc.) directly result from UV exposure.
